Blender add-on · GPL · Blender 4.x & 5.x
Turn any pattern into real, printable relief.
Pattern Skin tiles patterns onto your models as real geometry you can print — not a shader, not a normal map. Actual relief, raised or engraved, exported to STL or 3MF in one click. And it builds complete printable parts of its own: knurled grip sleeves and knife-handle scales.
Get Pattern SkinUnlimited machines (GPL) · built-in AI texture generator on your own Replicate key
Dress a model from one sentence.
Scan your model into parts, then type damascus blade, knurled grip, plain guard — each phrase finds its part by name and fills its pattern slot, your library first, AI generation as fallback. Review the filmstrip, hit Bake.

A filmstrip of your parts.
Every part gets a cell with its own picture and its own pattern slot — a file or a prompt, with the price shown on the control before any paid click. A master pattern with apply-to-all, per-part printability warnings, and a one-click fix.

Multi-material, out of the box.
Export a native Bambu/Orca painted 3MF — every part lands on its own filament slot, drag, drop and print. Or standard colour 3MF, object-per-part 3MF, and STL-per-part for every other slicer.

One pattern. Any surface.
Planar · Cylindrical · Swept · twist-free Swept 3D (rotation-minimizing) · Triplanar · Auto. The right mapping for flat panels, tubes, rings, 3D-bending pipes and blocky, organic parts — the pattern rides S-curves without drift.

Region-accurate selection.
Click one face, stop at the crease
Flood-fills a region and stops at sharp edges — a blade flat, a lid top, one facet of a body.
A clean strip down the cutting edge
Grows an even band along the edges you pick — perfect for edge inlays and spine details.
One part, one click
Separates a connected part (grip, guard, pommel) so you texture exactly that zone.
Type what you want selected
“the blade”, “the handle” — AI finds it (your Replicate key, price shown before the click).
Complete printable parts.
Generate a knurled grip sleeve that slips over any handle — 12 knurl presets — or a matched pair of knife scales, from a blank size or traced from your own knife outline. Real parts, not decorations.
The whole relief pipeline, one add-on.
- Print-readiness checks — warns when relief is too shallow for your nozzle/layer, fixes it in one click; slicer-aware notes (PrusaSlicer / Orca / Bambu / QIDI).
- AI texture generator — your own Replicate key, stored encrypted on your machine; price shown on the button before you generate.
- Make-seamless with a tileability score and one-click fix.
- Multi-pattern layering — add / max / multiply / overlay.
- Tone & levels — gamma, contrast, black/white points.
- Lithophane mode — backlit relief from any photo.
- Per-region multi-pattern — a different texture per region, baked in one pass.
- Variable depth — gradient relief across the part.
- ~50 object-type presets — projection, tile, depth and finish in one click.
- Batch mode — its own texture + settings applied to a whole collection.
- One-click export — STL and 3MF, including painted multi-material.
- Vectorized numpy core — optional SciPy/GPU speed-ups, guardrails so Blender never freezes.
Runs on stock Blender.
Blender 4.x and 5.x. The core needs numpy only — nothing else to install. Optional speed-ups are one click and never required. AI features are optional and run on your own Replicate account.

FAQ
Is this a shader or real geometry?
Real geometry. It bakes relief into the mesh and exports STL/3MF you can print.
Will it work on my curved or bending part?
Yes — Planar, Cylindrical, Swept, and a twist-free Swept-3D mode cover flat, tube, ring and 3D-bending shapes.
Does multi-material really work in Bambu Studio?
Yes. Pattern Skin writes a native Bambu/Orca painted project 3MF — parts arrive already assigned to filament slots. Standard 3MF, object-per-part and STL-per-part flavours cover other slicers.
Can it make a grip or a knife handle?
Yes — a printable knurled grip sleeve that slips over a handle, and matched knife scales from a blank size or traced from your own knife.
Do I need to pay for AI?
No. The add-on works fully without AI. The optional generator bills your own Replicate account, the price is shown on the button before any paid click, and your key is stored encrypted on your machine.
Can I sell what I make?
Yes. The geometry, STLs, 3MFs, parts and prints you create are yours to use and sell.
Does it need extra Python packages?
No — the core is numpy-only. SciPy/GPU are optional one-click speed-ups. Optional: cairosvg to load SVG patterns directly.
